Ifeanyi Chima, a gang member that robs motorists in traffic hold ups at Tincan Island and Liverpool in Apapa is now cooling off in police cell and explaining all he knows about the robbery offence he is accused of.

Ifeanyi who said he is regretting his actions told Saturday Sun that he has been participating in dispossessing innocent motorists of their belongings while held up in traffic.

According to him, the day he knew that the business isn't worth it was when a vehicle crushed the leader of the gang that procured the Awka-made pistol when he was trying to escape after a robbery operation.
'Since then, my conscience started pricking me forcing me to go for confession in a church."

However, nemesis that is recoil of nature that cannot be guarded against caught up with him on that same day he went to church to confess. He did not get home as the police arrested him on the way.

He admitted being in the crime for four months and has not made a breakthrough but only chicken feed.
'When our leader was crushed by a moving vehicle, I went to where he hid the gun and brought it and threw it into the lagoon and I told some of my friends about the development and my decision.

Operational tool
Their operational tools are the gun and hammer. The hammer he said is for smashing vehicles window glasses of their victims and the gun is only used in threatening them. ' I have not killed anybody with the gun. We use it only to put fear into people so that they will submit without hesitation."
Ifeanyi said, following the death of their leader, he lost interest in the business and has been confessing every night. His ordeal was caused by one of his friends he had disagreement with who reported him to the police. 'I was not arrested in the act, I was arrested on information to the police by my friend who knew what I did."

Partner in crime also arrested
His partner in crime, Mohammed Musa, who was arrested a week after owned up to being in the robbery business for over four months and has not made up to N20,000. According to him, idleness led him into robbery. He was a trailer motor boy. The driver of the trailer had a fracture on his leg that led him to stay in his village and he could not get any other job and in order not to waste away he took to robbery.
